We toss roasted hazelnuts in the stone grinder with the cacao and cane sugar. It's super creamy, with a whole roasted and peeled hazelnut inside each square. We use the most traditional recipe we can find to its origin. A time of Napoleon, when they blockaded trade with Northern Italy so they couldn't get cacao beans for their super popular chocolates. Because hazelnuts were Italy's number #1 export at the time, they mixed that in with the cacao to get it to stretch further. It ended up so popular, to this day Guiandujotti is a delicacy. This is basically where nutella got its roots. We use the traditional gold & silver wrappers, but we do not use the upside down shape of a boat (as was their tradition).
